About the Farm
This Colombia Excelso comes from small family-owned farms in Colombia’s famous Coffee Triangle, one of the country’s most important and recognized coffee-growing regions. The area is known for its mountainous terrain, rich soils, and long-standing coffee traditions.
Most producers in this region manage small farms and handle much of the coffee preparation themselves. Cherries are carefully picked, processed at each farm’s own micro-wet mill, and then dried by the producer. This farm-level attention helps preserve quality and allows each lot to reflect the work of individual families and communities.
Colombia has two key harvest periods. The main harvest typically runs from October through January, while the smaller “mitaca” harvest takes place from April through June. This rhythm allows Colombian producers to bring fresh coffee to market across multiple parts of the year.
About the Bean
Colombia Excelso is a fully washed coffee made up of Caturra, Colombia, Typica, and Castillo varieties. In the washed process, the fruit is removed from the coffee seed before drying, creating a cleaner and more balanced cup profile.
After processing at small micro-wet mills, the coffee is dried using vertical dryers. In many parts of Colombia, producers also dry coffee on elevated tables inside solar dryers, which help protect the coffee from rain while allowing for controlled, even drying.
The result is a smooth and approachable Colombian coffee with classic sweetness, balanced acidity, and a clean finish. Colombia Excelso is an easy-drinking, everyday cup with enough depth to stay interesting and enough balance to appeal to a wide range of coffee drinkers.
